Virginia City Nevada Vacation Ideas

Take a trip back in time with a visit to Virginia City, approximately 20 miles from Reno, maintained in its original condition as a mining town in the 1870's. This National Historic District is a must see, not only for its historical value, but for its sheer enjoyment.

View underground mines, historic saloons such as the Bucket of Blood Saloon, cemeteries, take the walking tour or ride the trolley, stop at the general store and museum or the opera house. Be prepared for authentic gunfighters shooting up the streets during your visit.

Take the 30 minute walking tour of the Chollar Mine, pictured above, going 400' deep into the mine, learning how miners lived, worked, and died in this historic area. Open April through October. Located at 615 South F Street. Call for hours (775) 847-7500.
